New York Islanders at Buffalo Sabres, Pt. II [Game #53 thread]

Same place, same time, different lineup, maybe different result?

New York Islanders v Buffalo Sabres
As Trotz said, great story for them, bad story for us, but we’re all human, so...great story.

There is no undoing the damage of last night, when the Islanders coughed up a 2-0 lead to lose to the Sabres in 28-year-old Michael Houser’s NHL debut. But tonight they can make amends at least by taking the rematch.

Playing on back-to-back nights with the playoffs around the corner, the Isles will have some lineup changes. That includes J-G Pageau returning after a “soreness” kind of one-game absence, as well as other unnamed changes.

More from Trotz here. He liked the first 10 minutes last night, and then...”we started getting cute...arrogant. As the game went deeper we didn’t pull away.”

The Islanders begin play a point behind the Bruins, who have a game in hand. The Bruins are also playing again tonight in Newark. Further up the standings, the Penguins (four points ahead) are again in Philly.

The Capitals grudge rematch with the Rangers doesn’t take place until tomorrow. Lots of time for the latest round of Tom Wilson hate to escalate.
