The New York Islanders go for revenge and a couple of points (ideally without conceding one) in Round 2 of their three-game set with the visiting Washington Capitals.
While they were sleeping, the Penguins won again to take over first place again, but another Capitals win would undo that. If the Islanders pull off the win, they’ll jump the Capitals into a tie for first with the Penguins — unless it’s an extra-time Isles win, in which case all three would finish the night with 65 points.
No telling what the Isles lineup will be until game time, as both teams completed regulation and overtime shutouts on Thursday night before the Caps prevailed in the shootout.
The Capitals may have some injury concerns on top of Justin Schultz, who didn’t make the trip and missed Thursday’s game.
“We’re working through some things in the room, including [Alexander Ovechkin],” said Peter Laviolette. The Capitals captain hasn’t missed a game due to injury since 2015, but he is questionable for tonight after leaving Thursday’s game late and missing the two team skates since then.
