Here we are, the beginning of a three-game series with the reeling and injury-ravaged Buffalo Sabres. By rights, these are points on the board for the Islanders. But that’s why they play the games, and all that.

No lineup shocks, although Ilya Sorokin gets the start in goal. One of his two shutouts this season came against the Sabres, with an assist from video review.

Among the Sabres’ casualties is goalie Linus Ullstrom, so Jonas Johansson will be in goal and I’ll resist the urge to preface that name with “some guy named” because then I’d be asking to be shut out, wouldn’t I?
