The Islanders close out Penguins February with the second half of a back-to-back at home.
Saturday night was...too familiar: Well-played by and large, but too many penalties for comfort, and an opportunity to win turned into an extra-time loss.
So this will be the sixth meeting, and they have been costly. Though the Islanders have fetched four points from the first five (1-2-2), the Penguins have amassed twice that, 8 out of 10 points with their 4-1 record in this series. Yes, points of any kind are priority one, but a regulation win would help rebalance the ledger.
As expected, with the back-to-back the Islanders will give Ilya Sorokin a turn, his first since his shutout of the Sabres. The Penguins will do the same, starting Casey DeSmith.
Also, Cal Clutterbuck will remain out.
Clutterbuck skated this morning. Won’t play. Trotz said if it was a playoff game Clutterbuck would be able to play.
