The Islanders and Bruins meet for a 5 p.m. MLK holiday start at the Coliseum, where it’s a home opener but without the festivities or fans.
Tuukka Rask is expected to start for the Bruins after ol’ friend Jaroslav Halak got a start over the weekend.
In the Islanders net, Semyon Varlamov was ruled “available” to go (though not officially declared the starter yet) after missing last game due to friendly fire.
The Bruins, you’ll notice, look a little different than this time last year. Gone are Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug, but their blueline still has the required minimum amount of z’s:
Bruins expected lineup vs. NYI (corrected):
— Matt Porter (@mattyports) January 18, 2021
Marchand-Bergeron-DeBrusk
Ritchie-Krejci-Studnicka
Bjork-Coyle-Smith
Frederic-Kuraly-Wagner
Lauzon-McAvoy
Grzlecyk-Carlo
Zboril-Miller
Rask
Halak
In the morning media scrums, Barry Trotz sounded a little more forgiving of Saturday’s lineup than he was immediately following that 5-0 loss. So might not be big changes:
Trotz on lineup: Have to give the guys who played Saturday a bit of a reprieve. Likely see a "similar" lineup tonight vs. BOS. #Isles
