This afternoon, the Islanders will take on the Flyers in Game 2 of their Second Round series. The Islanders won Game 1 in what I thought was a pretty strong game, but coach Barry Trotz thought his team was “average.” Shows you what he expects, and that’s to dominate.
I can’t imagine that the Islanders will be making any lineup changes. Trotz said that Adam Pelech and Cal Clutterbuck, who got a little dinged up in Game 1, should be good to go.
#Isles Barry Trotz on Pelech/Clutterbuck availability for Game 2: "I have (no concerns) actually. Both finished fine. I saw them walking around today so they should be good."

Goalie Semyon Varlamov figures to be in net, though with a back-to-back today and tomorrow, I wonder if Trotz goes with Thomas Greiss at some point. Varlamov, who pitched consecutive shutouts between the Game 5 clincher against the Capitals and Game 1 of this series, is :40 away from breaking the Islanders’ all-time shutout streak, currently held by Billy Smith.
I wonder what changes Alain Vigneault will make going into today’s game. He probably wasn’t thrilled with his team’s effort, considering he pulled the goalie with over seven minutes left in Game 1.
