New York Islanders vs Detroit Red Wings [Game 60 thread + John Tonelli Night]

The Islanders need a win, with a makeshift lineup, against the league’s worst team.

You know the situation here: Four consecutive losses on a lost road trip, only two goals to show for the trip, and the Islanders woke up today out of a playoff position, albeit with games in hand.

Making matters worse, Derrick Brassard is still out, so they’ve...shuffled some things up front.

But it’s the Red Wings. And it’s John Tonelli’s night! Surely they can pull together and scratch out a much-needed win. Surely...?

Lots of good posts today — and one refuted trade report — so we’ll just give you the “related” box:

Remember that the ceremony to “retire” John Tonelli’s #27 (and pre-retire it for Anders Lee, we expect one day) begins at 6:30, the puck drop not expected until 8 p.m. Wow, that’s a long time. Hope the players are ready.
