Welcome to the Lighthouse Hockey’s newest podcast, Lighthouse Lookback, a long-form interview show where we catch up with former New York Islanders, whether they have played just one game or hundreds with the team.
Tom Poti played just one season with the Islanders. Former general manager Neil Smith signed the defenseman to a one-year deal on July 8, 2006. Poti was a welcome addition to the blue line, logging a career-high 25 minutes per game. Brought in to boost the power play, the defenseman scored all six of his goals on the man advantage and scored a career high 38 assists.
Like most of the veterans from that team, Poti left via free agency on July 1, 2007. He explains why during the chat.
