The latest episode features my chat with Brad Dalgarno. The former Islander was selected sixth overall in the 1985 NHL Draft. Brad tells me the moment in juniors that had him shoot up the pre-draft rankings.
A major turning point in Brad’s career was his fight with Joey Kocur of the Detroit Red Wings, which left him with multiple injuries. Dalgarno walked away from hockey for the first time following the fight. He returned a year later and had to deal with the ramifications of his return.
Brad’s career year occurred in the 1992-92 season. As a member of the “Kid Line” with Travis Green and Marty McInnis, Brad scored 15 goals and registered 32 points. He added two goals during the improbable run to the Conference Finals in 1993.
Unfortunately injuries ended his career in 1996 at the age of 28.
Brad fills me in on what he has been up to.
And here’s the video for “I Make The Dough, You Get The Glory” by Kathleen Edwards, featuring Dalgarno, Paul Coffey, Marty McSorley and a bunch of other hockey dudes.
