WARNING: CONTAINS SOME COARSE LANGUAGE. PARENTAL DISCRETION ADVISED.
Mike and Dan sift through their feelings about the Islanders being swept in the second round and the galvanizing season that passed.
They talk about the “closest sweep of all time” against the Hurricanes and the bad taste it leaves after the highs of the previous series against the Penguins. Later, they discuss the season as a whole and how Barry Trotz pulled an Infinity Gauntlet snap on the franchise. Finally, they rank post-Dynasty playoff teams before firing up their offseason anxieties with UFA projections.
Dan here. Full disclosure: I wanted to write one of Lighthouse Hockey’s signature Zeitgeist parody posts about how Barry Trotz and Co. have reset the Islanders’ timeline by effectively erasing everything that’s come before them with the Infinity Gauntlet. But I couldn’t do it in a way that didn’t make Trotz sound like an intergalactic, interdimensional super villain, so I said the hell with it. Certainly a guy who casually reminds strangers to keep hydrated when the weather starts getting warmer shouldn’t be too closely compared to a psychotic, Mad Titan like Thanos.
Anyway, as a bonus to our valued Islanders Anxiety listeners, here’s the picture I made for the article. I got a laugh out of it. Thank you for hanging out with us this season.

Looks like Trotz asked Greiss to see if Lehner wanted to finish the game in goal. Very nice idea.
