The New York Islanders have returned to Barclays Center for the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes. The Islanders haven’t played at Barclays in some time, but the league ruled that Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum was not a major league arena and would not allow them to play round two in the old barn. They played the fewest possible games at Barclays, sweeping the Pittsburgh Penguins in four to advance to the second round.

The Hurricanes meanwhile haven’t had a lot of chance to rest. The defending champion Washington Capitals took them to seven games, but they prevailed in overtime in the ultimate game to get here. The Islanders have had plenty of chance to rest up and get healthy while the Hurricanes got a bit beat up and are forced to dress Greg McKegg.

Robin Lehner will get the start tonight after his stellar performance in round one. Lehner leads the league in adjusted save percentage in five-on-five play after round one. Petr Mrazek will oppose him on the other side. Mrazek had a heck of a rebound towards the end of the year and took the starter’s job back from Curtis McElhenney.

Game time is at 7:00 P.M. E.D.T.

Programming note: From the second round onward, NBC Sports has all games on U.S. broadcasts. But MSG will have post-game coverage for each game in the series, with Bill Pidto, Jennifer Botterill and Butch Goring in studio. Brendan Burke and AJ Mleczko, covering other series for NBC, will also join the MSG postgame at various times throughout the series.
