The New York Islanders were victorious in their return to the Stanley Cup playoffs, winning the first game of their best-of-seven set against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Islanders came away with the victory in overtime thanks to Josh Bailey who came away as the star of the game. It was the second time that an Islanders goal would go to replay after a goal in the first minute of the game by Tom Kuhnhackl was overturned.

The same goalies that started game one will start this one tonight as Matt Murray and Robin Lehner will square off once again. Lehner played a game better than the save percentage would indicate as the Islanders didn’t play their best defense in front of him and he had a huge dSV% as a result. Murray meanwhile was pedestrian.

A victory by the Islanders would give them a commanding lead as they’d only need to win the rest of their home games to advance. With that being said, Lehner saved them in the last contest and they’ll likely need to be better to advance. Meanwhile, more than a few people in Pittsburgh media have called for Murry to be replaced by Casey DeSmith.

Game time is at 7:30 P.M. E.S.T.
