The New York Islanders are set to take on one of the worst teams in the league as they look to move back into first place in the Metropolitan. They’ll take on the Detroit Red Wings who come in with just 58 points on the season and a -53 goal differential. A win would put the Islanders back into a first place tie with the Washington Capitals.
One of the Thomas Greiss or Robin Lehner will play tonight. The starter has yet to be announced. Greiss has been a low key Vezina candidate while Lehner might be just a step behind.
No lineup changes are expected today. Johnny Boychuk should return soon, but for now Thomas Hickey stays in with Devon Toews. Michael Dal Colle is still a healthy scratch despite the fact that the offense hasn’t exactly clicked. If they continue to score two goals a night, some changes will have to be made.
Game time is at 1:00 P.M. E.S.T.
