The New York Islanders are fresh out of the bye week as they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning as they hit their 50th game of the season. The Islanders exit the bye in first place by three points with a game in hand over the trailing Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins have a prime chance to catch up tonight as they play the lowly Ottawa Senators while the Islanders playing the best team and hockey, but hopefully they Islanders can upset Tampa Bay once again.
Thomas Greiss is the likely starter in this game. Greiss was spectacular in his last contest against the Lightning and was the main reason for victory as he stopped 38 of 39 shots. This presumably means that Robin Lehner goes tomorrow in the second game of the back to back.
No lineup changes are expected for tonight’s contest. Tom Kuhnhackl, Ross Johnston, and Luca Sbisa will make up the healthy scratches. Andrew Ladd and Thomas Hickey are skating again and will presumably return soon at which point the Islanders will have some decisions to make.
Game time is at 7:00 P.M. E.S.T.
