Today was dominated by talk of line mixing, and there are some interesting choices if they hold true:
Johnston-Barzal-Bailey
Lee-Brassard-Eberle
Beauvillier-Nelson-Komarov
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck
Leddy-Boychuk
Pelech-Pulock
Toews-Mayfield
That’s Ross Johnston next to Mathew Barzal, Derick Brassard back to center (where he’s been less effective) between two wingers that sometimes excel next to Barzal.
Why? Barry Trotz is “puttin’ em in a blender” because he feels they’ve gotten away from their consistent approach, away from their predictability. “Too many artists, when sometimes you just want to paint the barn.”

The underlying stats have backed this up; the Isles have been different the last few games, even in their wins.
We’ll see how it all shakes out. Semyon Varlamov is in net for the Islanders, Malcolm Subban for the Golden Knights.
