The Islanders will take on their new division rival, the Columbus Blue Jackets, for the first time this season.
The Islanders, right at 6:00 p.m., announced that they put Jordan Eberle on IR (retroactive to last week, so he can come off whenever) and called up Cole Bardreau. It seems the big club was looking for a center recall, and both Tanner Fritz and Otto Koivula were not available.
As my man Scoops notes here, Fritz is out for personal reasons. May explain the Bardreau call-up. https://t.co/iw5dJvXbRN

But here’s the twist: Bardreau will be in the lineup tonight, in place of Leo Komarov, who appears to be dealing with an illness. Good for Bardreau, 26, who will be making his NHL debut.
Bardreau making his NHL debut at age 26 after 230 AHL games, all but four in the Flyers organization.

He spent most of his professional career in the Flyers organization before coming to Isles camp in September and getting assigned to Bridgeport.
Thomas Greiss will be in the Islanders net, continuing the trend of alternating goalies.
Here are tonight’s lines:
Thanks again to @GregPickerHere and #Isles radio crew for letting me in the booth for pregame show.
