The New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils are set to square off in a divisional matchup that sees the Islanders jockeying for playoff positioning and the Devils trying to stay out of the basement in the standings. The Islanders come in having won their last two contests with Thomas Greiss performing masterfully against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Robin Lehner doing the same against the St. Louis Blues. The Devils are coming off of a four to one loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a matchup that was a schedule loss for them and are 5-5-0 in their last ten games.
The starting netminder has not been announced for the Islanders, but Greiss was part of the morning practice and looks more likely to start this one. Lehner will likely get tomorrow’s contest against the Washington Capitals if that’s the case. All that’s known at this point is that they will split starts during these two contests.
Barring any last minute changes it doesn’t look like any lineup changes will be made tonight. Tom Kuhnhackl may get a game depending according to reports, but it’s nothing conclusive. If nothing else, it would serve to keep some guys fresh with the back-to-back.
Game time is at 7:00 P.M. E.S.T. The Islanders broadcast will be on MSG+ while the Devils will be held on MSG+2.
UPDATE: Lehner in net tonight - Kuhnhackl still scratched
