In Spring of 2016, when we last looked at the Islanders’ Top 25 under 25, Ryan Strome lead the list, followed by Mathew Barzal, Ryan Pulock, Brock Nelson, and Michael Dal Colle. Now, Strome is an Edmonton Oiler, shipped off for Jordan Eberle in return, Brock Nelson is 26 and no longer eligible for the list, and Michael Dal Colle has had two mediocre professional seasons in the AHL. Barzal and Pulock look pretty darn good, at least.
All this is to say that our Top 25 under 25 is clearly in dire need of an update. This time, along with our panel of LHH contributors, we want your input of who should be ranked where.
Embedded into this post is a Google form that requires your LHH name, and then you can rank prospects as you see fit. Each player on the list is sorted in alphabetical order by first name with their position and draft year to help you in your rankings. Pick your 1-25 and you can add an honorable mention for guys who just don’t quite make the cut, or just leave them blank.
There is no one “right” criteria to rank players on, so whatever you feel makes a player a top ranked prospect in the system is up to you. It’ll be interesting to see the general community consensus is of where each player in the Islanders prospect pool ranks! If you’d like to add any comments about players, feel free to leave them in the comment section.
