Garth Snow, Doug Weight Fired*: Lamoriello is Islanders new GM

Garth Snow has been relieved* of general manager duties. Doug Weight has been relieved of head coaching duties. Lou Lamoriello is the new general manager and will begin the search for a new head coach immediately.

*We say “relieved” like the release says, because for now, “both will remain with the organization.”

But let’s be real here: The “Snow, Weight Fired” thing has happened.

Who’s next? Who comes in? Who knows. But after evaluating things since his hiring last month, a truly new era with Lamoriello has arrived.
