A month of fast-paced change continued as the New York Islanders landed the top coach on the market in Barry Trotz.
Trotz officially stepped down from the Capitals just days prior to the announcement he was joining the Islanders, and just two weeks after winning the first Stanley Cup in Capitals history.
Reports indicate he has a five-year deal — something he reportedly asked the Capitals for in an extension — and came on because of Lou Lamoriello and the “exciting” roster the Islanders possess.
It truly is a new era for the Islanders.
