2018 Preseason: Islanders, Flyers announce joint schedule, basically

The Islanders will play the Flyers four times, including once at Nassau Coliseum

Boston Bruins v New York Islanders
Flashback: Evgeni Nabokov in a preseason game in Bridgeport back in the day.

NHL teams began announcing their full preseason schedules Friday, and the New York Islanders includes four meetings with the Philadelphia Flyers among their first five dates.

Things start with a meeting of the two teams at the renovated and downsized Nassau Coliseum, which goes by some much longer corporate name we’re not going to bother trying to remember. But that will be a good trial run since the Islanders are set to play some of their games at their old home over the next three seasons.

They play games on six of seven nights to kick things off, then have a short gap during which, presumably, the roster cuts will come out in force. The game on Sept. 22nd, previously announced, will be against the Rangers in Bridgeport, home of the Isles’ AHL affiliate, the Sound Tigers:

  • 9/16 at 1 p.m. - Islanders vs. Flyers (Nassau Coliseum)
  • 9/17 at 7 p.m. - Islanders at Flyers (Philadelphia)
  • 9/18 at 7 p.m. - Islanders vs. Flyers (Brooklyn)
  • 9/20 at 7 p.m. - Islanders vs. Devils (Brooklyn)
  • 9/21 at 7 p.m. - Islanders at Flyers (Allentown, PA)
  • 9/22 at 7 p.m. - Islanders vs. NY Rangers (Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport)
  • 9/26 at 7 p.m. - Islanders at NY Rangers (Madison Square Garden)
  • 9/28 at 7 p.m. - Islanders at Buffalo (Tribute Communities Center in Oshawa, Ontario)

This is the furthest thing from your mind right now — though ticket info can be found in the team release — but it might be useful come September when we realize training camp is underway.
