Snow Never Came, Part 3 - End of Pre-Season 2006

Wade Dubielewicz went 2-1 for the Islanders this preseason, posting a .927 Save% and 2.67 GAA in 3 games.

After a short snowstorm, work and Kerbal Space Program DLC induced break, it’s time to finish up the 2006-07 pre-season and see what will happen as the commentariat of Lighthouse Hockey takes the helm of the New York Islanders, saving the team from the possibly destructive reign of former backup goaltender Garth Snow.

When we left off last time, the Islanders were 2-0 on the pre-season, with 5 games to go. Up next was a home-and-home with the San Jose Sharks. Yes, in the alternative realm, the computer thinks nothing of having electrons fly 3,000 virtual miles, play a hockey game, then have both teams fly across the country and play again the very next night. SkyNet has not yet arrived.

No, these aren’t Doug Weight’s Islanders you’re reading about. He’s still basking in the afterglow of last year’s Stanley Cup win in Carolina. But this is the pre-season, and the Isles weren’t all that great to begin with, and we’ve been playing a bunch of AHL guys. We’re also learning the new system, which is what pre-season is for.

Still, there is room for improving the roster. Atlanta is willing to trade Eric Boulton (who would be an upgrade on LW for us) for 7th defenseman Denis Grebeshkov.

But first, a visit to soon to be old friend Pahty Mahty Reasoner and his Edmonton Oilers.
