The New York Islanders return home after defeating the Calgary Flames and bolstering the chance that the pick which they received from the Flames becomes a lottery pick. They'll look to try and keep their own pick out of the lottery tonight as they take on the Washington Capitals. They currently have a 2.4 percent chance at making the playoffs according to Sportsclubstats.com.

The Islanders need help to make the playoffs and there's a few other contests which can help or hurt their odds tonight. The Florida Panthers and the Boston Bruins play each other - a Panthers victory in regulation decreases the Islanders odds by .4 percent while a Bruins victory increases them by the same margin. The Blue Jackets and Flyers play each other - the best case scenario for that one is a Flyers victory in regulation while a Blue Jackets victory in overtime decreases the Islanders odds overall.

No changes are being made to the lineup tonight. Christopher Gibson is back in the net for the Islanders while the Blue Jackets will roll with Philipp Grubauer. Grubauer leads the NHL in adjusted save percentage for all goalies with at least 100 minutes in five on five play while Gibson is third.

Tonight's game is on MSG+. They'll either bolster their tank tonight or bolster their minuscule playoff odds. Go team?
