The New York Islanders start on a four-game Western Conference road trip in Denver tonight as they take on the Colorado Avalanche. The Islanders are 4-4-2 in their last ten games and one their last contest against the Detroit Red Wings in a strange game where they dominated everything but the scoreboard. They’ll need that same level of tenacity tonight if they want to defeat the high-powered offense of the Avalanche.
Thomas Greiss will get the start again tonight. He wasn’t exactly tested a ton against Detroit, but what chances they did see were pretty good. As a result we saw his delta save percentage in five-on-five play increase while his overall save percentage decrease. The Avalanche make every shot count and he’ll need to be sharper tonight.
No changes will be made to the lineup tonight. Ross Johnston and Luca Sbisa will be healthy scratches while Tom Kuhnhackl is out with injury. That means more Joshua Ho-Sang tonight.
Puck drop is at 9:00 P.M. E.S.T.
