The Islanders salvage a point from what Trotz calls their worst game of the year.

The win streak has ended at five games, it’s now relegated to a seven-game point streak. The Islanders got first period goals from Casey Cizikas (twice) and the Dashing Valtteri Filppula, but a 3-1 lead didn’t hold up — nor did it deserve to — and they eventually fell in the shootout. Still woke up in first place though. Weird.

Islanders Reading

Post-game interviews, Barry Trotz from the start: “Quite simple, the right team won, we were awful, that was our worst game of the year. Sorry, thought I’d get that out, I feel better getting that out.”
