The New York Islanders head over the Hudson River to take on the New Jersey Devils.
Leave your First Islanders Goal picks for today’s 4 p.m. start here.
The Islanders have been playing some confounding hockey as of late, getting the better of the shot metrics, but still faltering as their P.D.O. has regressed. They’ve lost two straight and a loss here tonight would give the Devils a fifth place tie with the Islanders in points and would give the Pittsburgh Penguins a chance to tie with them in their game later on tonight.
Goaltending has been nothing short of abhorrent in the past two contests. Thomas Greiss allowed two low danger goals against the Dallas Stars before being pulled for Robin Lehner who proceeded to allow three goals against in his first six shots (albeit in more difficult situations). Lehner then started against the Rangers and he allowed two low danger goals himself while the Islanders got shut out. Lehner is now putting up a -1.11 delta save percentage in five on five play this year - that’s pretty bad, so Greiss will get the start.
Cal Clutterbuck is back from illness and will replaced Ross Johnston in the lineup. No other changes are being made to the lineup. Luca Sbisa will get the healthy scratch.
Today’s game starts at 4:00 P.M. E.S.T. Islanders coverage can be found on MSG+ while the Devils coverage is on MSG proper.
