The New York Islanders and the New York Rangers rivalry is continues tonight at Madison Square Garden in what is also a matchup between two teams that are surprisingly trying to improve their playoff chances. The Rangers and the Islanders were both expected to compete for lottery odds. Instead the Rangers could tie the Columbus Blue Jackets for first place in points and the Islanders could tie the Rangers for second with a victory.
Both Thomas Greiss and Robin Lehner struggled in the Islanders last game against the Dallas Stars. Greiss allowed two low danger goals and saw his dSV% fall nearly a percentage point. Lehner didn’t fair much better allowing three goals in his first six shots before settling in a bit, but the effort saw his dSV% fall below zero for the first time this season. Lehner will get the start in this one.
Ross Johnston will get another game while Michael Dal Colle exits up front. On the blue line, Adam Pelech comes back in for Luca Sbisa. Casey Cizikas, Andrew Ladd, and Matt Martin are all still on I.R.
Islanders coverage for this one is on MSG+ while the Rangers coverage is on MSG2. Game time is at 7:00 P.M. E.S.T.
Update: Cal Clutterbuck is out, Dal Colle is in.
