The New York Islanders return home after their annual California trip. Said road trip didn’t go all that well for them as they came away with one win and two losses and didn’t really look all that good in the process. During the trip, the Islanders had a score and venue adjusted Corsi of just 44.92 percent.
Tonight’s opponent in the Florida Panthers present a good chance for the Islanders to get back on track. These two teams are a long way away from where they were when they last squared off in the Stanley Cup Playoffs back in 2016 and the Panthers have just one win in their seven games played. With that said, they can tie the Islanders in points and points percentage with a victory here tonight and there’s a case to be made that the Panthers have played better hockey than the Islanders have given where the two rank in possession.
Anthony Beauvillier returns to the lineup tonight while Tom Kuhnhackl heads back to the bench. Beauvillier was too ill to participate in the Islanders last game. Ross Johnston and Luca Sbisa will be the other healthy scratches while Thomas Greiss backs up Robin Lehner.
Game time is 7:00 P.M. E.S.T.
