The rookies are here, they’re skating and stuff, and tomorrow is an actual game of sorts with the Flyers.

Islanders Things

  • Brian Compton and Mike Carver‘s new Islanders podcast is up. Check out the first episode on the worst idea ever. [Isle Seat]
  • Mathew Barzal did some training in Vancouver this summer and evidently at that gym ran into Olivia Munn and Nick Swardson, who I’m told are actors. (Sorry, I’m out of touch.) The rest of the article is about hockey. [Islanders Insight]
  • The FanPost machine is up and running, so share you interesting missives with us. JPinVA checks in with a nice rundown on training camp battles, possible opening roster. [LHH FanPost]
  • Jordan Eberle chatted with season ticket holders and loved all of them, naturally. [Isles]

Not Only But Also

  • Dan’s Golden Girls Sports podcast takes on hockey. Bobby Hull. Sticks. More. [GGSP]

The Rest of This Fair Land

  • The David Pastrnak affair escalates yet again with reports of multiple offers from the KHL. [CSN]
  • Brad Marchand says he has no problem with Pastrnak becoming the team’s highest paid player, if that’s an excuse the B’s management is standing on. [Globe]
  • The Sedins write a pretty cool open letter to the city of Vancouver. Most interesting to me is their thoughts on their early years and tough adjustment to the NHL. If you weren’t conscious for their rookie and first few seasons you may not realize how much “bust” talk there was. [Players’ Tribune]
  • 21 of 31 players polled said they’d prefer Quebec as an expansion spot over Seattle. [SB Nation]
  • The Sabres would really like to sign Jack Eichel, you guys. [NHL]
  • The Devils signed Damon Severson for six years, $25 million, which just feels like Devils news. [All About The Jersey]
  • What a long, cool trip for Mark Streit as he comes full circle back to the Canadiens. [NHL]
  • Jaccob Slaven has too many “c”s in his name, a cool partner and a couple of cool dogs. [Canes Country]
