Happy 3rd of July folks. It was the second day of free agency yesterday, but there were still some fireworks. Outside, I mean. Lots of fireworks. It's 4th of July weekend or something.

Islanders News

  • Joshua Ho-Sang and Michael Dal Colle were happy to take advantage of extra work during Mini Camp. [Islanders Insight]
  • Mike and Dan recorded what will (probably) be their last podcast of the summer. [LHH - Islanders Anxiety]
  • Arnaud Durandeau took to Instagram to thank the Isles organization for the "great experience" at Mini Camp. [Instagram]

  • Patrick Marleau is going East: he has signed a three-year contract with the Maple Leafs. Methinks Toronto is Going For It. [PPP | Fear the Fin]
  • Joe Thornton is staying West, at least for one more year. He signed a one-year contract to stick with the Sharks. $8 million helps, too. [Fear the Fin]
  • The Capitals extended Evgeny Kuznetsov for eight more years. [Japers Rink | SBN]
  • They also dealt away Marcus Johansson to the Devils for two draft picks and some cap relief. [Japers Rink | AATJ]
  • Carey Price, set to become a UFA next summer, signed a massive eight-year, $84 million extension, laden with lockout-proof signing bonuses totaling about $70 million. Start making non-hockey plans for the fall of 2019, friends. [HEOTP | SBN]
  • Marcus Kruger, long-rumored to be Vegas-bound one way or another, was finally traded to the Golden Knights yesterday. He was owed a $2 million signing bonus on July 1, which the Blackhawks could afford to pay. Chicago fans say farewell to the under-appreciated Swede. [SCH]
  • Connor McDavid's rumored new contract would hurt their chances to win, critics say. [Edmonton Journal]
