The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have signed forward Scott Eansor to an AHL contract after a successful appearance at Islanders prospect camp this week.

Eansor was a teammate of Islanders first rounder Mathew Barzal with the Seattle Thunderbirds, compiling 47 goals and 82 assists in 219 WHL games and serving as a co-captain as the team won its first WHL championship this season. He’ll now play for the Islanders’ AHL affiliate while Barzal aims to make the big club this season.

Eansor scored twice at Thursday’s Blue-and-White Scrimmage including this one that was pretty damn sweet.

I don’t want to take all the credit for making this signing happen, but I’m pretty sure I made this signing happen.

The responses I got to that tweet all seemed to describe Eansor has having a motor that doesn’t quit. That’s a good quality to have. He might not amount to an NHL player but taking a flyer on a talented 21-year-old free agent probably isn’t a bad idea.
