The Islanders have signed defenseman Seth Helgeson to a one-year, two-way deal, filling the team’s requisite Ex-Devil quota for the season.
The 6’-4”, 210-pound Helgeson was a fourth round pick of New Jersey in 2009 and played 50 games for them over the years, collecting a grand total of one goal and three assists. He’s played over 200 games with their old AHL affiliate in Albany.
I wonder if this signing is related to Chris Lamoriello, the Islanders’ Director of Player Personnel, who was the Albany Devils’ GM from 2001-2015. Seems like Helgeson be a depth player for the Sound Tigers this season.
Michael Fornabaio calls him a steady presence for a young Bridgeport blueline. And here’s a scouting report from All About The Jersey:
Bridgeport is going to get a slowish big dude. https://t.co/r5PaZVP2tL

Hey, we told you not to expect a ton of action from the Islanders today. Carry on.
