Islanders Preseason Schedule (complete): Return engagements in Allentown, Bridgeport and, oh yeah, Nassau Coliseum

Spanning the Northeast corridor to bring you the best in totally meaningless hockey.

The Islanders have announced their preseason schedule and it includes games in places they have visited before, including one very special location.

The team will play at the newly renovated NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (rolls right off the tongue...) on September 17th at 1 pm against the Philadelphia Flyers. It’ll be the first game the Islanders will play in Nassau County since the 2015 NHL playoffs. Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 29th at noon.

(and before we get too hot over this, a gentle reminder that a single preseason game doesn’t mean they’re moving back to the Coliseum any time soon, either temporarily or permanently. Bill Daly said a few weeks ago that a preseason game could happen, but as far as the old barn goes, the commish says the Islanders are still looking at a new, new arena.)

After that, it’s into Manhattan for a game against the Rangers at MSG on the 18th. The two teams will also play at Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena, home of the Islanders’ AHL affiliate, on the 22nd. The big club has played in Bridgeport three previous times including last season against the Capitals.

On September 20th, there’ll be a pair of split squad games against the Flyers including one in Allentown, Pa., where the teams have played twice before at the PPL Center, home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. We exhausted pretty much all of our Billy Joel Allentown jokes after the first game, but David used the song in a very creative report from last year’s meeting.

The Islanders will also play a game in Buffalo, where Phil Housley was just named head coach of the Sabres. You never know who else might be there, too.

Below is the complete list of preseason games. Yes, there will be two in Barclays Center, and four total games against the Flyers. It’s just like the playoffs! Except with a bunch of AHL nobodies and PTOs and ATOs and the scores mean nothing as soon as they’re over.
