Some of us guess better than others! It was a close race, but in the end, it was one person who didn't not guess as bad as everyone else taking home the top prize.


There were 53 entries this year. Thank you for everyone who stuck their necks out. You'll be able to collect your heads sometime during the off season. Please check with the board mods for a release schedule.

There were 10 questions, each requiring a numerical answer. Points were awarded based on how close the guess was to reality.

1) How many standings points will the Islanders achieve in the 2016-17 season?
(10 points exact, -1 point from 10 for each point you're off)

2) In which place will the Islanders finish in the Metro division (using NHL tiebreakers and playoff seeding)
(10 points exact, 7 points off by one, 5 points off by 2, 3 points off by 3)

3) How many points (goals + assists) will John Tavares score in the regular season?
(10 points exact, -.5 points from 10 for each point you're off)

4) How many goals will Andrew Ladd score in the regular season?
(10 points exact, -1 point from 10 for each goal you're off)

5) How many goals will the Islanders score as a team in the regular season?
(10 points exact, -.5 points from 10 for each point you're off)

6) How many goals will the Islanders allow as a team in the regular season?
(10 points exact, -.5 points from 10 for each point you're off)

7) In how many games will Jaro Halak play (as recorded by NHL.com) as goaltender?
(10 points exact, -1 point from 10 for each game you're off)

8) How many goals will Ryan Strome score in the regular season?
(10 points exact, -1 point from 10 for each goal you're off)

9) How many goals will Brock Nelson score in the regular season?
(10 points exact, -1 point from 10 for each goal you're off)

10) How many goals will Anders Lee score in the regular season?
(10 points exact, -1 point from 10 for each goal you're off)

It wasn't possible to earn negative points on a question, or scores would have been much, much lower. Any result that had negative points was adjusted to 0. Any score below in orange was a score adjusted to 0.

First, the people from whom you should never, ever take advice:

More orange on that screen than the Isles 3rd jerseys from a few years back. Looks like all those road cones in the D zone from early in the season. Optimism was our undoing (in most cases), as we were all higher on points and order of finish in the division, we were all higher than Snoop Dogg when it came to JT's point totals. We also all pretty much flubbed it on Jaro's games played.

Now, onto the people who didn't choke on the open net, but couldn't bury it in crunch time, either....

Most people in this group only failed on Jaro's game count, # of goals allowed and # of goals Lee would score. 'tm' was the only person to get Lee with 34 goals.

And now the top 10...

Tied for 9th with 43 points apiece, m_x_b and jrams16. jrams correctly guessed the Isles would get 94 points, and also nailed Ladd's 23 goals. He got 0 points in goals for and against, and the number of games Jaro played. m_x_b was close on goals scored, but picked up 0 points in scoring for Strome, Lee and Tavares.

In 8th place with 44.5 points, we find Cheepnis. He picked up 7 or more points in 4 categories with 4 zeroes.

7th place went to Arbourisgod with 46 points. He correctly picked a 5th place finish, and also scored 7+ points in 4 other categories.

6th place, at 47.5 points, belongs to OzzyFan. He picked up 5 scores of 7 or higher, offset by two 0s.

5th place was earned by FGS with 49.5 points. Only two 0's came back, with 6 scores over 6 and a 10 for the 5th place finish.

4th place, just out of the money with 50.5 points, was bossy 22, with three 8s, a 7, a 6, a 5.5 and a 5.

3rd place went to one of the other people to get a 10 on the total points, BaltimoreIslander. He also picked up 10 points for predicting 5th place, 9 points for Strome's 13 goals and 8 points for Nelson's 20. Naturally, coming in third means you get fired.

The silver medal, and a set of steak knives, goes to Jt91thefuture. He had only two zeros, and a 10 (5th place), 9 (Strome's goals), 8 (Nelson's goals), two 7s, a 6 and a 5.5.

And taking first place, obviously because this whole contest is rigged and I'd get banned if it didn't work out this way, is LHH head honcho Kim Jong-un Dominik. Dear Leader scored perfect 10's in all 20 categories two 9s, an 8, three 7s and a 6.5 with only the same two zeros pretty much everyone else had.
