The New York Islanders try to get another “bounce back” after a flat performance Sunday afternoon in Calgary, with their first visit to Rogers Place tonight. These are not your older brother’s Oilers though: Edmonton is good now, and not just because of Connor McDavid.
(Okay, a lot because of him. Still.)
For the Islanders, Thomas Greiss is in goal again. Defenseman Johnny Boychuk is still out. Adam Pelech is in for Scott Mayfield.
As far as #Isles D tonight, seems like 2-50 will be one pair. Could see 44-3 and 14-4 as the other pairs and have 44-3 against McDavid.— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) March 7, 2017
Small update on that:
#Isles D/G: de Haan-Hamonic, Leddy-Pelech, Hickey-Seidenberg. Greiss/Berube.— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) March 8, 2017
The forwards remain as they have been, with youngsters Brock Nelson, Ryan Strome and Anthony Beauvillier all playing their natural center positions.
Connor McDavid is tight with Joshua Ho-Sang since age 10, and Ho-Sang sings his praises.
Ho-Sang on McDavid: "He's an All-Star on the ice but more importantly he's an All-Star as a person too. He's a genuinely good human being."— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) March 7, 2017
The feeling is mutual, but it’s important McDavid also be asked about the number Ho-Sang has worn since he was 15:
Connor McDavid's opinion on Josh Ho-Sang is simple: He's been impressed with his skill since they were both kids. pic.twitter.com/zkcxj6iTvZ— Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) March 7, 2017
