Predators at Islanders [Game 75 Thread]

The most must win of not-necessarily-must-wins

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Islanders square off against the Nashville Predators tonight in game that's not quite a must win, but for all intents and purposes is a must win. A win tonight ties them with the Boston Bruins in points for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Boston has the tiebreaker at 37 regulation or overtime wins to the Islanders 33, so the Islanders cannot tie them - they'll have to pass them in the standings before the end of the year.

The Islanders top pairing in Corsi for is Thomas Hickey and Scott Mayfield, so Mayfield (the Islanders leader in relative Corsi on defense) has been scratched for Hickey in an incredibly bewildering move. There will be no changes for the forwards. Shane Prince and Jean-Francois Berube will be the other healthy scratches along with Mayfield.

Thomas Greiss gets the start with Jaroslav Halak backing him up. Juuse Saros will start for Nashville. Nashville has won six of their last seven - the Islanders will have to be sharp to take home a victory.
