As the Islanders enter the final crucial stretch of their season, Mike and Dan discuss what energetic young forward Joshua Ho-Sang has brought to the team as well as their own evolution from their early season depression to the excitement of a run for the playoffs. They also debate whether or not the team will bite the bullet and recall goalie Jaroslav Halak from the AHL and how the three goalie rotation has affected (or maybe ruined) J-F Berube's career.
We reference a couple of outside works in the episode, so here they are if you need or want to catch up:
- Arthur Staple’s illuminating appearance on the Hockey PDOCast with Dimitri Filipovic.
- Michael Fornabaio’s recent report on Halak’s time in Bridgeport and his appearance on the Point Blank Podcast.
- Newsday’s report on a possible Winter Classic at Citi Field between the Rangers and Sabres.
- Sadly unmentioned in the show but integral nonetheless is Cory Wright’s article on Ho-Sang for the Islanders official site, which lends much more insight into the kid’s development and how it’s helped the Islanders.
Finally, if you haven’t yet, be sure to check out Mike's new podcast, "Long Distance Fanatics," in which he interviews an Islanders fan from the UK and asks, "No, seriously. Why them?" You can listen to the pilot episode here.
