The New York Islanders head to Columbus to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets live in Columbus, Ohio. The Islanders are starting the game off in playoff position and a win here would ensure that they stay there; quite the change from the beginning of 2017 where they were in last place in the division. They had been last in the conference in January, so finishing February in a playoff spot would be phenomenal.
This is the last game prior to the trade deadline and this could be the last game for someone on the team. There tea leaves say that they will look to move on from a defenseman ahead of the entry draft in the offseason, but with the team in playoff position that might be on hold. Obviously the major rumor involved shipping out Travis Hamonic for a forward, but given his injury that might be harder to do or they may have to take less in return.
Thomas Greiss is in net. He's opposed by Joonas Korpisalo. The Islanders against a backup goalie - what could go wrong?
