The end of 2017 sees the Isles still dropping in the LHH Power Rankings. They’re now down to third in the Metro, 6th in the Eastern Conference, and 13th overall.

With a new arena deal, the Islanders got what was at the top of their Christmas wish list. Now the question is if they will get John Tavares to re-sign as a result.

The Islanders are coming home to Long Island. Fans rejoiced at the end of 2017 when the Belmont Park stadium project was finally approved. It's a good omen for the team's next order of business: retaining John Tavares.
