It isn't actually the end of the year until the New York Islanders are in the MTS Centre taking on the Winnipeg Jets. The NHL schedule makers seemingly love to put the Islanders in Winnipeg around the end of the year. This time they won't end the year in Winnpeg, but it's close enough to count.

The Islanders dominated the scoreboard against Winnipeg in their last contest by a score of five to two at Barclays Center only six days ago, but that much of that was a difference in goaltending. Jaroslav Halak was astounding for the Islanders in net as he stopped 38 of the 40 shots the Jets had while Steve Mason was a sieve allowing five goals in 29 shots. They'll likely need another stellar performance from Halak tonight as Winnipeg carries an advantage in most statistical categories and Connor Hellebuyck will be in net instead of the leaky Mason.

Anthony Beauvillier will get the healthy scratch tonight as Doug Weight has opted to roll with Steve Bernier instead. Shane prince and Bernier are the fourth and fifth worth possession forwards in the league with at least three games played by relative Corsi and it would behoove Garth Snow to acquire some assistance for that line as soon as possible. Ryan Pulock will come back into the lineup as Johnny Boychuk was placed on the injured reserve list earlier today.

The puck will drop at 8:05 E.S.T. and can be found on MSG+2. More high definition stations have been added. For those without MSG+2 in high definition that still wish to watch the game in H.D., connect your computer to your sets and login through MSG GO or use a ChromeCast or AppleTV.
