Isles Win Belmont Bid

- According to an opinion column penned by Randi Marshall, one of the reporters who’s been with the story since the beginning, this has been in the works since Charles Wang was around. [Newsday]
- Speaking of Wang, his name came up quite a bit during the press conference, and Gary Bettman points out that were it not for him, they might not still be in New York. [Newsday]
- Gov. Cuomo hopes that Bettman will reconsider allowing the Islanders to play at the Coliseum in 2019-2020 - they are contractually obligated to play at Barclays through next season and the new arena probably won’t be done in time for that season. [LHH | Newsday]
- The arena will be privately financed, as well such large projects spearheaded by billionaires should be. [New York Times]
- Isles owner Jon Ledecky also wants develop a “world-class facility” in Bridgeport. [CT Post]
