Monday it is. Sorry.
Islanders Reads
- A look at Brock Nelson, Nick Leddy and Anders Lee in da Beauty League, the Minneapolis 4-on-4 summer league with pros and top amateurs put together by agents so these guys didn't have to play against the reckless huff-and-puff numbskulls you and I skate against. [Isles]
- Here are nhl.com's top 10 overtime goals from 2015-16, and I bet you can guess (and rather enjoy) #1. [NHL]
- "Team Europe" and Isles limbo goalie Jaroslav Halak is looking fit. [Eyes on Isles]
- Keifer Bellows had an assists in the U.S. 5-1 victory over Canada at the junior evaluation camp exhibition. [USA Hockey]
- What would a reasonably successful season for Ryan Strome look like in 2016-17? [Eyes on Isles]
In the Family
You probably know by now that Islanders co-owner John Ledecky's niece is really freaking talented, but...well she broke her world record again and won gold in Rio:
Congrats to @katieledecky, Jon Ledecky's niece, on beating her own world record & winning gold tonight! #IslesFamily https://t.co/Mm1sdfQFAu

Outside
- Something many of us will happily devour, even if it was a pretty bad movie (hey, the choices were slim for hockey films back in the day): Oral history of making "Youngblood." [THN]
- Some interesting restricted free agent negotiations with players not named Strome. [Puck Daddy]
- David Perron was strongly considering signing with the Canadiens but would have left "a lot of money on the table" to do so rather than return to the Blues. [HEOTP]
- I swear, no matter how hard he tries Gary Bettman will never get rid of coaches fighting in the KHL. [Puck Daddy]
- Okay, fair enough, this was an awesome move by Sid. [NHL]
- Craig Leipold buying out Matt Hulsizer's minority share of the Wild had some interesting revelations, from Hulsizer pushing analytics (and wanting more of a say) and the way their co-ownership was structured. [Star-Trib]
- Canada's TSNers enjoyed calling out noted Pittsburgh-based blowhard Dejan Kovacevic's "idiotic trolling" of the Vancouver Olympics. (My favorite retort, not referenced here, came from a Brazil-based Scottish reporter who reminded "safer than Vancouver!" Dejan he's surrounded by thousands of security personnel in a country teeming with murders.) [Awful Announcing]
- The last trade the Habs have consummated with each NHL team. [HEOTP]
