The Islanders' annual Blue & White Scrimmage - pitting prospects, draftees, walk-ons, and other assorted invitees against each other in a grueling gauntlet guaranteed to raise or lower expectations to nearly impossible levels - will be played at the team's new practice facility at the end of this month. Man, these things sneak up on you.
Northwell Health Ice Center at Eisenhower Park - the team's new official practice space, right across the street from Nassau Coliseum - will host its first Blue & White Scrimmage on Wednesday, June 29th at 7 pm. Last year's game was held at Barclays Center.
The game will feature Islanders prospects and property including first round picks Michael Dal Colle, Joshua Ho-Sang, Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier, as well as draftees selected at the NHL Entry Draft on June 24th and 25th. In years past, the rosters have also included walk-on players like Long Island native John Schiavo, who parlayed a rookie camp appearance into a contract with the Missouri Mavericks.
A skills competition will follow the game, and some prospects will stick around for an open autograph session at the end.
You can get tickets at this link, with a price of admission a donation to the Islanders Childrens Fund.
So take in the game, scout the kids, get an autograph, and refuel your enthusiasm and/or rage for the long summer months ahead.
