The New York Islanders visit the Florida Panthers with 23 years of playoff baggage and almost 30 years of this-particular-game in a series baggage hanging over them, or at least their fans.

It's Game 5, and it's one the NYI have not won even during their 1993 run, to say nothing of the Yashin-Peca-Aucoin years and the Tavares Revival years.

But all of that is thematic. What the Isles desperately need is to start the game much better than they have in the first four, and generally show a much better effort than they did in Game 4's disappointing sleeper at home.

They'll try to do so without Ryan Pulock, now officially declared out one to two weeks. Hopefully that timeline actually matters. For now it's Marek Zidlicky, similar of shot and handedness but opposite in age, who steps in for the young blueliner.

There may also be some juggling up front, because someone who isn't a long-timer has to pay.
