Zeitgeist: Islanders Slump of the Year Award™ voting now open!

Cast your vote now for the Islander shooting the blankest blanks!

Almost. But not.
Almost. But not.
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Attention Islanders fans! Voting is now open for the team's Slump of the Year AwardTM, given out annually to the player that exemplifies offensive frustration, lost momentum and possibly stunted development.

This year's candidates span the gamut from new faces flying under the radar to long-time Islanders showing continued dedication to the art of not scoring goals.

And now... the finalists!

Shane Prince: 1 goal, 0 assists in 10 games, March 1, 2016 - Present

Prince slump

The team's newest acquisition has been an Islander for only a month, and is already showing he can fit right in! His goal in Winnipeg on March 3rd is so far his only point with the team.

Ryan Strome: 1 goal, 0 assists in 16 games, February 18, 2016 - Present

Strome slump

Still just 22, Strome is toughing out a symmetrical sophomore slump. With eight goals and 24 points this season, he has nearly half the totals he had in his first NHL campaign!

Josh Bailey: 3 goals, 1 assist in 20 games, February 9, 2016 - Present

Bailey is a veteran slumper (he once went 36 games without a goal in 2013) and is usually good for a couple of double-digit droughts per season. Four points in 20 games is vintage Bailey!

Brock Nelson: 3 goals, 2 assists in 22 games, February 4, 2016 - Present

Nelson slump

Last season's Slump of the Year AwardTM winner, Nelson once again spent the first half of the season shooting the lights out before going dry. Five points in his last 22 games is just as impressive!

Nikolay Kulemin:  0 goals, 6 assists in 29 games, October 23 - December 21, 2015 and 1 goal, 2 assists in 33 games, January 2, 2016 - Present

Kulemin slump

Kulemin is a tireless worker and expert penalty killer. He also has 17 points in 71 games and went 29 games without a goal in the season's first half on top of his current 33-game drought. Two 20-plus game slumps in the same season is simply extraordinary!
