Islanders Reads
  • Ryan Pulock's family drove the 10-plus hours to Edmonton for this one, and it's a good bet he gets his NHL debut in front of them tonight. [Newsday
  • With the trade deadline tomorrow, much of the league was active over the weekend from the significant (Ladd is a Hawk, and it wasn't cheap), to the minor (Sekach is a Coyote, because waivers, while the Leafs and Sharks swapped backup goalies) to the downright puzzling (Anders Nilsson is a Blue!). But it's quiet so far with the Isles. [LHH]
  • Calvin de Haan and Mikhail Grabovski's injury status actually gives the Islanders a little roster flexibility heading into the deadline and post-deadline roster expansion. [LHH]
  • The Sound Tigers' rebounded from Friday's P-Bruins drubbing with a defensive gem. [CT Post | Soundin' Off]
  • Another day, another goal and assist for Mathew Barzal. [Seattle Times]
  • Darius Kasparaitis is in the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame. Dan recalls some of the finer moments and interviews. [LHH]

(Buffalo and Ottawa swapped a bunch of AHLers you don't know.)

  • The Hawks weren't done by getting Ladd. They also grabbed Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann from the Canadiens, who have thrown in the towel. [SCH]
  • The Sharks swapped goalies, Alex Stalock for James Reimer, with the Leafs. [Fear the Fin]
  • Former Islander Anders Nilsson is now a Blue for a 5th-round pick. Hmmph. [C&B]
  • ...and the Penguins took Justin Schultz off the Oilers' hands! [PensBurgh]
  • Longtime Capital Brooks Laich is on waivers, where he can talk about how concussing people is a good penalty to take. [Japers']
  • The Isles won't see Teddy Purcell tonight, as he, Jiri Hudler and Jakub Kindl are all now Panthers. [Litter Box Cats]
  • The Oilers will probably trade one of their $6 million men, as long-rumored, but it probably won't happen until summer. [C&B]

Finally, don't be alarmed by him leaving the game, P.A. Parenteau is ready to go wherever the deadline may take him:
