Islanders News: Calvin de Haan to IR, Boychuk/Tootoo exchange

Maybe you'll see Pulock, maybe it's all moot.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

There was a roster move by the Islanders yesterday and another one is imminent this morning...BUT. Read below for why it may only be precautionary as they head out for the actual "road" portion of this road trip.

Islanders Reads
  • The Isles might not have Calvin de Haan available to start the road trip as he was placed on IR despite skating with the team yesterday...but it's retroactive and he'd be eligible to come off by the first game, in Minnesota. Regardless, is that Ryan Pulock's music? [Newsday | LHH | Isles]

  • Brent Thompson wasn't tipping his hand on any recall, but said Pulock's work on the defensive end has him about ready for the NHL. [Soundin' Off]
  • Jordin Tootoo says Johnny Boychuk "totally understands" things like Tootoo's hit from behind on Boychuk happens, which can be taken a lot of ways (e.g. "Tootoo things happen"), and their post-game discussion was totally cool, man. []

  • As part of their community outreach, Ryan Strome spent part of Sunday teaching 120 kids playing ball hockey in Bergen Beach. It's part of "an eight-week partnership between the Islanders and Brooklyn-based nonprofit Millennium Development to install floorball as an after-school activity in seven elementary and middle schools in the southern area of the borough, including Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park and Canarsie."
