Send everyone you want out of the house to the mall and get ready for Flyers-Islanders today at 1 pm. FIG picks go here.

Islanders stuff

  • Super nice guy Marcus Johansson was indeed suspended for that hit on Thomas Hickey on Thursday. He'll sit for two games, including the Caps' game today against the Rangers. [LHH]
  • Travis Hamonic got banged up in that game and had a maintenance day yesterday. The Islanders also recalled Scott Mayfield and placed human paper weight Eric Boulton on IR to make room. We'll see who plays today. [LHH]
  • Kinda bummed about the Islanders' spotty first half? So are they. [Newsday]
  • How 'bout that Brock Nelson? The congregation of The Reverend continues to grow. [Islanders]
  • Michael Dal Colle and his new team played Michael Dal Colle's old team and Michael Dal Colle had two goals and three assists, giving Michael Dal Colle eight points in two games since the Michael Dal Colle trade. [Whig Standard]
  • Eamon McAdam made 40 saves in Penn State's 3-2 OT win over Minnesota. [SBN College Hockey]
  • One of the rarest articles out there: A rosy tale of the Islanders' move to Barclays Center (albeit with some dodgy Nassau/Lighthouse Project tidbits). [Sports on Earth]

Around the NHL

  • The Rangers were full and didn't want to Etem any more. So they sent Emerson to the Canucks for Nick Jensen and a pick. [BSB]
  • Ryan Johansen made a good first impression in his Predators debut. [NHL.com]
  • That trade was a rare one-for-one deal and Down Goes Brown examines the (often hilarious) others.
  • New Rochelle native and good defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk could be available? Got room for the former Rangers fan? [The Score]
  • Minnesota's Mikael Granlund used to be the new hotness now he's old news. [Hockey Wilderness]
  • Did Sidney Crosby kill Mike Sullivan or was it the other way around? [Puck Daddy]
  • The Hurricanes will need Justin Faulk to lead them into the future. [Canes Country]
  • Okay, where the hell did all the goals go? [EOTP]
  • Shh...there's going to be a secret meeting about expansion soon. Don't tell anyone. [Dreger Report]
  • The Devils had to call up half of their AHL team to fill in for some injured dudes. [NJ.com]
  • Rob Schremp Hockey is coming to the AHL All Star Classic. [Panthers]
  • Boston Pride player Denna Laing was injured at the Women's Outdoor Classic and she remains in the hospital in grave condition. Best wishes to her on a speedy and complete recovery. [SCoC]
