New York Islanders Reveal Third Jersey

Hey, what a surprise; it looks exactly like the one that was leaked.

The New York Islanders revealed their new third jerseys for the upcoming 2015-2016 seasons.  To nobody's surprise, it looks exactly like the jerseys that were leaked a few weeks back.  Those jerseys were met with mostly negative reviews and they'll probably receive more scrutiny now that they are officially the third jersey of the future.

The team unveiled the jerseys this morning with photographs of John Tavares in the full attire on their website. The helmets were also unveiled - they have "Brklyn" on the side of the new black helmets with they Y also being the hockey stick character.  The team did not report on how many sticks the Islanders star broke during the photo shoot.

The team is looking to cross brand with the Brooklyn Nets with these new jerseys and it remains to be seen how well they will go over with the new fans the Islanders hope to bring in.  Supporters of the jersey have noted that people who didn't like the Kings black and silver jerseys weren't the most popular when they were revealed either.  Detractors have stated that the jerseys don't keep the logo, colors, or basically anything that goes along with the team and are way too plain.  Love them or hate them, these jerseys in their exact form will only be around for two seasons at the most as the NHL will be switching to Adidas for their jerseys at the start of the 2017-2018 season.

Here's a (sorta) random selection of tweets about the uniforms:

There's plenty of negative out there, too, but I'm not going to waste my time seeking it out. For a sample of the worst of the worst, check out @IslesFacebook on Twitter.
