PTOverload: Carkner, Milner and Boulton sign tryout contracts with Islanders

Prepare thyselves.

These aren't the droids you were looking for, but the Islanders did hand out a few contracts this afternoon, inking some old vets and new blood to professional try out deals.

Matt Carkner signed a two-year deal with Bridgeport a while back, but agreed to a PTO with the Islanders (I assume) as an invite to training camp. The 34-year old will fill a sort of player/coach/mentor role for the Sound Tigers next year after losing a lot of time to injuries over the last two seasons.

Goalie Parker Milner returns to the Islanders organization after a year away with Quad City of the ECHL and the Iowa Wild of the AHL. Milner was signed as a free agent out of Boston College in 2013 and spent a season between Stockton and Bridgeport. He had some pretty respectable numbers from last season and could improve the always tenuous depth at goaltending no team can have enough of.

Undrafted right wing Tyler Barnes had 74 points in 71 games (34 g, 40 a) for Toledo of the ECHL last year. The 6", 180 pound Minnesotan played four years at Wisconsin.

Both Barnes and Milner signed AHL contracts with Bridgeport back in July. I guess this means we'll see them at camp, too.

And, lo, there was a rumbling. And the Earth shook. And the skies cracked with lightning. Seas boiled. Animals cried out in terror across the globe, for they knew the doom that would soon come to the kingdom of man and lay waste to all that he had built.

The Islanders had signed Eric Boulton to a PTO. And no chest hairjacuzzi or goaltender was safe from his fiery wrath.
